A. Answer the following questions :-

Answer – Alarippu, shabdam, varnam and padam - these were the strange words introduced to the audience in Washington.

(ii) What did Sudha always do before her performances?
Answer – Always before her performances Sudha explained each item of Bharatanatyam so that the audience can understand the emotion, melody and rhythm of the dance form.

(iii) How did Sudha lose her leg?
Answer – Sudha was injured in a road accident which resulted in gangrenous infection. The doctors in Chennai tried hard but were forced to amputate her right leg and thus she lost her leg.

(iv) Why did Sudha say "My dream will come true" when she met Dr. Pramod?
Answer – Sudha said that her dream would come true when she met Dr. Pramod sethi because she was sure that after getting the Jaipur foot, an artificial limb, she would be able to return to her dream of dancing again.

(v) What was the turning point in Sudha's life?
Answer – The turning point in Sudha’s life came when she made a historic comeback by giving a public recital in Mumbai and later got the opportunity to act in a film based on her life.

(vi) Sudha Chandran says towards the end of the lesson, "I do feel thrilled". Identify why she feels so?
Answer – Sudha feels so because her life story inspired many people and given them new hope. She is thrilled to realise that her message has got across.

Answer – Sudha got the opportunity to act in films when a Hyderabad film producer decided to make a Telugu film ‘Mayuri’ based on her life and asked her to play the main lead.
