Answer – Swaminathan at first wanted to protest but later found himself speechless. When his headmaster beat him with the cane, he kept staring at his headmaster and finally told him stammering that he couldn’t come, without any explanation.

Answer – The peon was called by the headmaster to ask about Swaminathan’s act. The peon told that he had seen Swaminathan breaking the panes of the ventilators of the headmaster’s room.
